Teaching method and Fees

Every pupil is individual and you all develop in your own time. I adopt a relaxed approach to all lessons and am happy to work at your pace whatever that may be. Whether you are a complete novice starting out on piano or keyboards, intermediate looking at taking grades, or an accomplished player and looking for advanced sessions in soloing techniques and live performance then I can help. You will be encouraged from the very beginning and I will be here to help you every step of the way to guide and support you. Learning piano is a wonderful thing and there will be humour and lots of fun along the way too. If you wish to cancel your lesson then please have a read through my cancellation policy.

Starting out

If you are at the beginning of your journey into the wonderful world of the piano then it is important that you get the basics right or you will encounter difficulties as you start to learn more complex pieces. I work at your pace making sure that everything you learn from the beginning is taught in a way that you will understand. I use a variety of methods as all of my students are different. There are no hard fast fixes and it takes time, discipline and dedication to learn an instrument. Keeping the lessons fun is paramount as it is a lot easier to learn something new that you enjoy doing. Providing you can commit and discipline yourself then my methods will teach you the basic essential practical and theory required to help you navigate around the piano and play simple tunes.

Intermediate

Once you have the basic understanding and you want to further your studies then I can offer a variety of options with resources available. So if you would like to develop a particular playing style, or explore harmony, or would like to look at taking industry recognised practical and theory exams then we can discuss these options and look at creating your own path to help you reach your own musical destination.

Advanced

These sessions are for more accomplished players who have a firm understanding of their instrument, however maybe looking at performing live with other musicians or looking at different techniques on how to improve playing, exploring live soloing patterns, structured chord progressions, and songwriting.
If you or your children are looking to learn basics, or develop and harness your skills as a player then I can offer you a path to achieve your goals.
